Students from Immanuel Christian School participate in the annual ‘Race for Education’

One hundred and twenty runners from Immanuel Christian School participated in the annual “Race for Education” held recently at Community Park in Hazle Township.
Parents, board members and high school students teamed up to clean and prepare the ¼-mile course under the supervision of Valerie White.
Kelly Knowlden, principal, fired the start up pistol and kindergarten through grade 12 students, at their designated race times, ran laps to earn donations for Immanuel Christian School.
They are thankful for the student’s school spirit and willingness to participate for
the good of the school community.
A day at the park is a great incentive as well. Enthusiastic parents and friends cheered the students on and served in many race day capacities.
Pastor Dave Furedi and Rainbow the Clown, provided delightful programs for the kindergarten through eighth-grade students as a part of race day festivities.
Lehigh Valley Zoo presented its live educational outreach program, “Fur, Feather and Scales” for the entire race day crowd after lunch.
High school students provided lunch concessions to raise funds for their year-end trip.
Immanuel Christian School board sponsors the Race for Education annually to raise funds for building improvements to its 725 N.
Locust St. building.
Both structural and cosmetic improvements over the last several years to the exterior property and replacement of drinking fountains and other interior improvements are the happy result.
This year’s project will be the first of a several-year plan to refurbish the restrooms on all three floors.
The board and staff of Immanuel Christian School believe the physical atmosphere for education is
important.
