Dress Code

Scriptures call for modesty in the ways we dress. Immanuel Christian School has established the following dress code to ensure modesty and appropriateness for the task of learning. This is not the only "right" way to dress, but we must have a tangible standard to accomplish the stated goals for standards of dress. If standards are not honored, parents will be asked to solve the problem.

We have chosen to use a uniform catalog as our standard. We have deleted certain items from that catalog which we have chosen not to use, such as: shorts, polo shirts, etc. Parents may choose to purchase the uniform company's product or they may find identical items from other sources including stores and uniform companies, thrift stores or the internet.

Belts must be worn on pants that have belt loops. Shirts and blouses must be tucked in. Skirts and jumpers must come to mid-knee. Shoes will be unobtrusive in nature. To accomplish this, traditional penny loafers, traditional oxfords, black and white saddle shoes, and Mary Jane's are acceptable. Sneakers that are as plain as possible will also be allowed. Lights, bells, whistles, pictures of heroes and heroines of the culture, elevator soles, skates in soles and all "fad" items that will draw attention to footwear are not allowed. Plain colors with minimal designs are best. Socks will be in solid colors. Accessories not found in the catalog are not necessary.

Catalogs are available in the school office.

  • GIRLS: jumpers, skirts, culottes, kilts, trouser skirts, blouses, sweaters, cardigans, slacks, tights, blazers and crisscross ties are all acceptable.

  • BOYS: pants, broadcloth and oxford shirts, sweaters, cardigans, blazers, ties are all acceptable.

Beginning the 2004-2005 school year, a standardized gym uniform will be required for grades 7-12.

Please check the catalog in the office for specific styles before buying
