- Concerning
Scripture: We believe that the 66
books of the Old and New Testaments is the Bible. It is the inspired and
inerrant Word of God that instructs Christian faith and practice.
- Concerning
God: We believe in one God existing
eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in power
and glory and identical in essence and attributes.
- Concerning
God’s Providence: We believe that
everything that happens is directed by God’s eternal will and purposes,
which is shaped by His perfect wisdom, power, and love. This however does
not make God the author of sin, nor does it take away human responsibility
and accountability.
- Concerning
Sin: We believe that because Adam and
Eve willing and knowingly disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden, all
humanity has inherited a sin nature that corrupts the soul and body,
separates us from God, and brings us under God’s just and eternal
condemnation.
- Concerning
Jesus Christ: We believe that Jesus
Christ, the second person of the Trinity, was conceived by the Holy
Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and was fully God and fully man. He lived
a life without sin, and died, voluntarily bearing God’s condemnation to
save His people from their sins. But he was raised bodily from the dead,
ascended into heaven, and now reigns as the exalted head of His Body, the
Church.
- Concerning
Salvation: We believe that salvation
is a gift from God given through the Holy Spirit, and received by
submission to the Lord Jesus Christ. Through this repentance and faith,
all our sins are forgiven and we are accepted as innocent in God’s sight,
not based on our works or abilities, but because of Jesus Christ’s life,
death, and resurrection.
- Concerning
Sanctification: We believe that all
believers receive and are sealed by the Holy Spirit until the day of
redemption. This enables us to live a godly life, keeping in step with the
Spirit by obedience and good works, proving our faith, not making us more
acceptable to God. Because of the Holy Spirit’s continuing work, we are eternally
secure in His faithful keeping.
- Concerning
the Return of Christ: We believe in
the personal, bodily, and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to judge
the world. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the
unjust, the everlasting punishment of the lost, and the everlasting bliss
of the saints.
