Immanuel Christian School

Love for Christ, service before self, and in all things, honor.

Immanuel Christian School is a non-denominational, board-run private Christian school. A non-profit institution, it serves five school districts surround the Hazleton area.

In the fall of 1979, Immanuel Christian School was founded to provide Christian Education in the Hazleton area. Meeting in the basement of Grace Fellowship Church, they had three teachers, and eleven students: one kindergartener, three second graders, one third grader, five fourth graders and one fifth grader.

The following year, with the coming of more students, the school moved to Zion Evangelical Church in Hazleton. But in 1982, it moved back to Grace Fellowship Church. By that time, they had to add another teacher.

In the next 14 years, ICS outgrew that building and in the fall of 1996, they moved to the Locust Street School building. This had been a part of the Hazleton School System, but was abandoned in their reorganization. Since then, a high school has been added, and many extracurricular events and opportunities have been developed.
